First-Generation Southwest Symposium

Background

As Senior Graphic Designer for the College of Education & Human Development at TAMU, part of my job was to set branding and provide assets for events and programs in our college. In 2021 TAMU hosted the First Generation Southwest Symposium for sister institutions and other attendees. Our college has been a trailblazer at TAMU for first-gen students, and we created the first first-gen program of its kind at Texas A&M (they have since adopted many of our policies at the university level).

Parent Branding

Using an existing framework to establish a baseline

Texas A&M University has a well-established brand but many of our faculty and staff members don't know how to use it or what it even is. The first two pages of my presentation focus on previously-established logo design and brand colors.

Event-Specific Assets

Telling a story with shapes

The multiple organic lines and shapes are meant to represent the many non-traditional paths that one might take to become a first-generation college student. They feel playful, approachable, and energetic. I also created a seamless repeating pattern to provide a flexible background that can be used as needed.
